About the Program

LM Game Labs funds independent research that advances AI cognitive assessment. We provide compute credits, platform access, and financial support to researchers pushing the boundaries of how we understand and measure artificial intelligence. Our goal is to build a global research community around multi-dimensional AI evaluation.

Eligibility

  • University researchers, independent research labs, and PhD students
  • Must publish findings in a peer-reviewed venue or preprint server
  • Must cite KALEI in all publications resulting from the grant
  • International applicants welcome. No geographic restrictions.

Application Process

Review

Review by the KALEI research team. Typical turnaround: 4 weeks.

Award

Award notification with grant agreement and access provisioning.

Execute

Quarterly check-ins with KALEI team. Final report upon completion.

Current Grantees

The Research Grants Program launches Q3 2026. Applications open June 2026. Early applicants receive priority review and founding researcher recognition.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can industry researchers apply?

Yes, with academic collaboration. At least one co-investigator must be affiliated with a university or non-profit research institution.

What topics are eligible?

AI cognitive assessment, bias detection and mitigation, game-theoretic evaluation, multi-dimensional profiling, and Cognum methodology.

Is there an open source requirement?

Open source publication of code and data is encouraged but not required. All grantees must publish their findings in a peer-reviewed venue or preprint server.

Can I apply for multiple grants?

Each PI may hold one active grant at a time. Sequential grants are permitted after successful completion of the prior award.
